Accounting Associate - Charlotte Area

Blackmon Service, Inc. (BSI), a Charlotte, NC based company, has an immediate opening for an experienced Accounting Associate.  BSI provides electrical and mechanical construction and service for mission critical facilities including, but not limited to, data centers, co-location facilities, server rooms and enterprise centers.  We are seeking an experienced candidate who looking for a growth opportunity in a great work team.

Job Description:  The primary duties of this position include all standard bookkeeping and accounting tasks. This position will work closely with the other office staff, project managers and executive management to  provide detailed company finandical information as needed.  This person must be able to work independently to perform these duties but will often collaborate with other team members to find the most effective solutions.

TASKS

  • Payroll final adjustments and forwarding to payroll service

  • Prepare financial statements

  • Manage petty cash account

  • Enter accounts payable invoices in system

  • Enter vendor and sub-contractor invoices in system

  • Process expense reports for technicians

  • Cut weekly AP checks

  • Reconcile credit card statements for payment

  • Prepare Bank deposits

  • Print and distribute receivables report.

  • Maintain ACH account

  • Maintain insurance – interface with insurance company for certificates of insurance & specific project insurance requirements.  Maintain all vender insurance certificates and request renewals. 

  • Maintain monthly Project Manager profitably reports.

  • Incident and accident reporting, insurance, OSHA Log

  • Prepare documents and coordinate on-boarding for all new hires.

  • Maintain all personnel files.

  • Update employee contact list and distribute

  • Reconcile bank statement

  • Maintain employee tool accounts

  • Maintain vendor portals – Avetta, ISNetworld, etc. – Company compliance information and updates

  • Maintain Hourly PTO

  • Work with outside accounting firm to maintain a depreciation schedule and do necessary GL entries each period

  • Get year-end paperwork together for outside accounting firm to process tax returns and property tax listings. Also do paperwork to send off tax returns.

  • Maintain documentation and backup for contracting and engineering licenses.

  • 4th in line for answering the phone

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to legally work within the United States & provide required documentation upon hire

  • Some experience preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Knowledge of construction industry practices preferred but not required.

  • Maintain high level of organizational, time/task management and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively interact with various people, both within and outside the organization
